    0=VP61 # On2 VP6.1
    1=VP62 # On2 VP6.2
    2=VP60 # On2 VP6.0

    These are the values in my VideoCapture file. I believe they are all default values.

    Please describe in more detail what sort of “computer problems” you encounter when shooting Sims 2 videos.
    Are you still using XP? 😮

    Ouch. External hard drives are a bit of a lottery. I’ve had my share of “bad” and “good” ones over the years. That’s why I backup my Sims game files not only to the external hard drive, but also to the cloud.

    I would recommend using Google Drive (15GB) for this, because Dropbox and OneDrive are too tiny. If you also happen to use Gmail, it may help to create a SEPARATE gmail account for the purposes of using it mainly as a Google Drive, so that your permanent file storage doesn’t interfere with your main email.

    I don’t blame you for preferring the look of Sims 2. I never did like the look of Sims 3, while Sims 4 hasn’t developed sufficiently for me to consider preferring it to Sims 2… but it stands a significantly better chance than Sims 3 ever will.

    Better late than never So the computer crashes…

    Better late than never. So the computer crashes were the main reason for the delay… glad you’re backing up more diligently now.

    The video’s pacing is natural. The simlish also flows well. The dialogue also does a good job of bringing viewers into the central conflict of the action.

    I don’t recall seeing the two detectives’ names though. Is this intentional? You also need not list every piece of CC in your credits 😉

    Hopefully your backups will enable you to produce subsequent episodes with less trouble. This story is worth continuing. 🙂

    I’m not going to “upgrade” my sims 2 computer to windows 10. They can pester all they like, but my game is working well, so i need not endanger it.

    Since some of us prefer to be on the safe side of the possible cut-off period for the Sims 2, I decided to experiment with a potentially easier alternative to machinima:

    This 90-Minute Sims Football Match is the Result of my 1st Experiment.
    The script is co-written with another Simmer, but I took & edited all the screenshots.

    Capps & Montys go to “war” on the Football pitch…
    in an Alternate Universe where the “Veronaville Disaster” did not happen.

    There are 6 chapters in this story, which is fully completed.

    We know that a 90-minute match is NOT possible in actual Sims gameplay, so this is clearly done via machinima-style manipulation.

    If machinima takes too much time/effort, and stories face the risk of the game expiring before being fully told, this may be a feasible alternative.

    If you’re concerned about “revealing too much too soon”, it’s best to be vague about showing potentially spoiler info. Eg. you can show (Dustin leaving the scene) instead of what you showed, as that leaves more room for audience speculation.

    However, this doesn’t mean you were “wrong” to show what you did, as you may indeed have a good reason to show that, which I currently don’t know about. Rather, treat this simply as a guideline for future episodes 🙂

    Example from STM: There are at least 3 possible major reasons for Kent’s silence, all of which are extremely feasible, enough for me to make a Poll. If you can achieve that level of vagueness, you are more likely to retain your audience’s curiosity.

    WKSB Chapter 1 Preview:
    Well done 🙂 It’s coherent, containing enough info to get viewers interested, without spoiling too much. You’re doing a great job for a first-timer, and I hope you get as much done as possible while the game still runs on our computers.

    I know I can download / recreate Sims 2 premades in Sims 4, but my major concern is the seeming lack of Sims 4 animation hacks / poseboxes, as these give STM its hallmark precision.

    I don’t spend a great deal of time recreating premade Sims.
    The only ones I bothered to make in Sims 4 are 2 Montys + 1 Capp.
    However, I downloaded many Strangetown premades.

    I’m not sure if I can meet the 2020 cutoff. If the deadline is too near, I may consider switching to screenshot story for the very late episodes. Or earlier, if I’m too busy in the near future. As I said before, all the scripts for the entire Season 2 have already been written.

    At this time, 2.06(B) is a major headache, but it’s too far on to switch strategies. I don’t even know how many % it really is.

    On Windows 10, [I couldn’t even load Origin], so I didn’t even have a chance to see it run Sims 4 or Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. Yet other simmers have reported that their Sims 2 runs smoothly on Win 10.

    From the [timeline given by Microsoft], I fear that we have only up to 2020 to finish creating our Sims 2 machinima series, as I doubt Sims 2 would run on anything later than Win 10.
